The Director General of Uruguay Customs, Mr. Jaime Borgiani, participated in the 139th and 140th Sessions of the World Customs Organization Council, the Organization’s highest decision-making body, held in Brussels, Belgium from 23 to 25 June 2022
The Director General of Uruguay Customs, Mr. Jaime Borgiani and the Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mr. Chris Magnus, signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement of their Authorized Economic Operator Programmes.
Representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Uruguay, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement the Container Control Programme in our country.
The Second part of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the World Customs Organization (UNODC-WCO) Container Control Programme Course was successfully completed, and the closing ceremony was held on June 17 at the Conference Room of Uruguay Customs.

Last November, Uruguay Customs and Colombia Customs signed the Mutual Recognition Agreement of their AEO Programs. The agreement was signed by the Director General of Colombia Customs (DIAN), Mr. Lisandro Junco Riveira and the Director General of Uruguay Customs, Mr. Jaime Borgiani.
With over 300 online participants and high-level speakers, the 5th Conference on Customs Law was held. The Director General of Uruguay Customs, Mr. Jaime Borgiani expressed in his opening speech that “This Conference is also the outcome of the Customs Administration that we want: open, analytic, in contact with operators, and leading foreign trade based on the guidelines set by the Ministry of Economy and Finance”
En el marco de la gira europea, el canciller de la República, Francisco Bustillo y el ministro de Comercio de Turquía, Mehmet Mus, suscribieron el acuerdo de cooperación y asistencia mutua en materia aduanera.
La Dirección Nacional de Aduanas y la Asociación de Despachantes de Aduana del Uruguay firmaron un Acuerdo de Intención para la Colaboración en la Implementación de la VII Enmienda del Sistema Armonizado.
Durante el pasado mes de Noviembre se celebró la firma del Acuerdo de Reconocimiento Mutuo de los Programas de Operador Económico Autorizado entre la República Oriental del Uruguay y la República de Colombia. Los firmantes fueron el Dr. Lisandro Junco Riveira, Director General DIAN de Colombia y el Cr. Jaime Borgiani, Director Nacional de Aduanas de Uruguay.
Con la participación de destacados panelistas y más de 300 participantes conectados en modalidad virtual, se realizó la 5ª Jornada de Derecho Aduanero de la Dirección Nacional de Aduanas. “Esta Jornada es también un corolario de la Aduana que queremos: abierta, analítica, en contacto con los operadores, liderando el comercio exterior en función de lineamientos claros trazados por el Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas”, expresó el Director Nacional, Cr. Jaime Borgiani, en su discurso de apertura.
