Last November, Uruguay Customs and Colombia Customs signed the Mutual Recognition Agreement of their AEO Programs. The agreement was signed by the Director General of Colombia Customs (DIAN), Mr. Lisandro Junco Riveira and the Director General of Uruguay Customs, Mr. Jaime Borgiani.
The signing ceremony was held during a National Congress attended by high-level Colombian authorities, which was part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of their AEO Program.
In the agreement, both parties commit to accept the results of the validations and certifications issued to Authorized Economic Operators of each Program. They also have agreed the benefits that will be granted to those operators, which will consist of bilateral trade facilitation measures.
Likewise, this agreement laid the foundations for working in order to strengthen security in the supply chain and to ensure that certified operators of both Programs actually receive benefits.
